The green roof located on the Catholic Social Services Office located in downtown Red Deer provides an oasis for both wildlife, staff and clients. Planted to species indigenous to the parkland and prairie ecosystems this biodiverse green roof is designed to provide habitat for local pollinators as well as workplace rest, restoration and inspiration space. Set within the indigenous plant meadow that blooms from early spring to late fall, are snags and bumble bee boxes providing nesting sites for local bees. A cedar pergola for gathering and large galvanized planters, overflowing with colour, texture and veggies, create a welcoming environment for connecting with nature.
